  • Ubuntu 8.04 was released on 24 April 2008 .
  • It was code named Hardy Heron and is the successor to Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.
  • * Hardy Heron is a LTS (Long Term Support) release and will be supported with security updates for five years on the server and three years on the desktop.

Newer Versions of Ubuntu

  • Ubuntu uses a six month release cycle
  • These releases occur in April and October
  • The next release is scheduled for the 30th of October, 2008 and will be Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) which is Hardy+1.
